Local Dignitaries & Ethnic Entertainment Featured at SEAC Lunar New Year Luncheon
A number of dignitaries and cross-cultural entertainers were on-hand Saturday, February 9, 2019 to help the South-East Asia Center celebrate the Lunar New Year.
Some of the notable guests included US Senator Dick Durbin; US Congresswoman Jan Schakowski; IL House Majority Leader, Greg Harris; State Treasurer Michael Frerichs, Secretary of State Jesse White, State Reps. Robyn Gabel and Jennifer Gong-Gershowitz, Aldermen Osterman, Cappleman and Pawar, Cook County Treasurer Maria Pappas, and others.
The ten-course traditional Chinese-style banquet at Furama Restaurant, 4936 N. Broadway, Chicago, featured delicious dishes like seafood chowder, taro duck, roast chicken, walnut shrimp, mushrooms and vegetables, noodles with beef and broccoli and dessert.
Entertainment included a colorful array of music and performances representing Asian and non-Asian musicians and dancers.
