{"id":1504,"date":"2021-09-30T14:58:59","date_gmt":"2021-09-30T14:58:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/se-asiacenter.org\/?p=1504"},"modified":"2021-09-30T14:59:15","modified_gmt":"2021-09-30T14:59:15","slug":"state-senator-visits-seac","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/se-asiacenter.org\/index.php\/2021\/09\/30\/state-senator-visits-seac\/","title":{"rendered":"State Senator Visits SEAC"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"v1gmail_default\">State Senator Mike Simmons chews on mooncakes and ideas for how to improve education for children, support community organizations, and increase employment &#8212; all with no extra tax dollars.<\/div>\n<div class=\"v1gmail_default\">SEAC President and educator, Peter Porr and San O, MSW Executive Director suggested:<\/div>\n<div class=\"v1gmail_default\">1. open access to numerous qualified teachers locked out of teaching, because their relevant courses were not in the right department<\/div>\n<div class=\"v1gmail_default\">2. earmark larger portion of State-Federal funds for early childhood education to community organizations (CBOs)<\/div>\n<div class=\"v1gmail_default\">*where parents can send their children all day allowing them to work or further their education and<\/div>\n<div class=\"v1gmail_default\">* where CPS itself found CBO preschool students score better than CPS&#8217;s.<\/div>\n<div class=\"v1gmail_default\">* where expenses are much less per teaching hour with teachers of same qualifications.<\/div>\n<div class=\"v1gmail_default\">* where grass roots nature of CBO&#8217;s allows services and community cohesion that only they can provide.
