Beginning as an ESL student in Mr. Porr\u2019s class, she was hired as a daytime caretaker for David Tom, SEAC\u2019s Public Guardian ward.<\/p>\n<p class=\"DefaultText\" style=\"tab-stops: .5in 1.0in 1.5in 2.0in 2.5in 3.0in 3.5in 4.0in 4.5in 5.0in 5.5in 6.0in 6.5in 6.75in 7.0in 7.5in 8.0in;\">When SEAC opened its first childcare classroom Ms. Hu began her educational career as a teacher\u2019s aide. She quickly learned by osmosis every aspect of the childcare operations and immersed herself in Truman College Early Childhood Education courses having to look up \u201cevery tenth word\u201d before finally, after ten years, obtaining an AA with honors.
