{"id":452,"date":"2019-06-19T18:28:44","date_gmt":"2019-06-19T18:28:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/se-asiacenter.org\/?p=452"},"modified":"2019-06-20T18:18:46","modified_gmt":"2019-06-20T18:18:46","slug":"fathers-day-celebration-lunch-at-seac-golden-diners","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/se-asiacenter.org\/index.php\/2019\/06\/19\/fathers-day-celebration-lunch-at-seac-golden-diners\/","title":{"rendered":"Fathers Day Celebration Lunch at SEAC Golden Diners"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/PoCgHJnaaEI\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Father&#8217;s Day was celebrated Friday, June 14, 2019, with a special luncheon at the South-East Asia Center &#8220;Golden Diners Club&#8221; on Chicago&#8217;s northside.<\/p>\n<p>The spirit of the <a href=\"https:\/\/se-asiacenter.org\/index.php\/hot-lunch-breakfast-for-seniors-60\/\">&#8220;Golden Diners&#8221;<\/a> is to create an opportunity for area seniors to get out of their homes and enjoy social and community interaction.<\/p>\n<p>The luncheon was attended by over 150 seniors as well as four area aldermen, the Director of the Illinois Department on Aging, and two representatives from the Chicago Transit Authority.<\/p>\n<p><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-448 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/se-asiacenter.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/IMG_4972.jpg?resize=399%2C233&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" width=\"399\" height=\"233\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/se-asiacenter.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/IMG_4972.jpg?resize=300%2C175&amp;ssl=1 300w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/se-asiacenter.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/IMG_4972.jpg?resize=768%2C448&amp;ssl=1 768w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/se-asiacenter.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/IMG_4972.jpg?w=864&amp;ssl=1 864w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 399px) 100vw, 399px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The diners had a chance to <a href=\"https:\/\/se-asiacenter.org\/index.php\/2019\/06\/18\/know-your-alderman\/\">meet two new aldermen<\/a> representing the 40th and 47th wards and hear about some of the expected changes related to the new CTA Red Line improvements.<\/p>\n<p>SEAC&#8217;s &#8220;Golden Diners Club&#8221; is very popular with local individuals of Asian heritage but is wonderful for those of various ethnicities over sixty, who want to partake of an authentic South-East Asian style meal and experience a little of the culture while meeting some new neighbors and old friends.<\/p>\n<p>The center strives to go beyond the superficial tourist approach to cultural interaction in favor of a more meaningful <a href=\"https:\/\/se-asiacenter.org\/index.php\/category\/seac_articles\/seac_philosophy\/\">&#8220;Building Bridges&#8221; approach<\/a> that encourages one-to-one contact and deeper understanding that focuses on similarities rather than differences between people. For instance &#8220;we all eat.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>So join the fun Monday through Friday. Breakfast begins at 9:00 AM and Lunch begins at 11:30 at 5120 N. Broadway, Chicago 60640.
