Assist limited-English-proficient (LEP), low-income families and individuals in accessing available public benefits and services.
Position requires understanding of challenges faced by LEPs and patience/ empathy with clients whose education, English, and knowledge of American culture is limited.
Your job will involve identifying available resources and helping needy clients to apply for needed services. The position also requires outreach, record keeping, reporting to and interaction with funders, etc. Accuracy is of the essence to assure clients’ success in accessing human and educational programs and services. Written and spoken articulateness in English is required to make reports, file appeals, and write correspondence to funders.
Most importantly, a genuine caring for people with sensitivity for others would round out the perfect applicant for this position. Cantonese or Vietnamese proficiency preferred.
Full Time; paid holidays, personal/sick/vacation days; $200/month bonus; training opportunities, working in a beautiful historic landmark.
Qualifications in Sum: High school diploma or B.A. in social sciences related fields, strong communication/writing/bureaucratic skills as well as work and life experience.
