Operations and Finance Manager (Chicago)

Position Summary:
The Operations and Finance Manager play a key leadership role in supporting this not-for-profit organization’s community programs by overseeing financial stewardship, operational systems, and organizational infrastructure. This position ensures that services are delivered efficiently, funding is managed responsibly, and internal systems support both staff and the communities we serve. This role blends financial management, program operations, and data-informed decision-making to strengthen organizational capacity and community impact.

Tasks and Responsibilities:
Financial & Programmatic Coordination
Coordinate financial management for grant-funded community programs, including budget development, expenditure monitoring, and financial reporting.
Ensure strict compliance with the Illinois Grant Accountability and Transparency Act (GATA) and applicable state and city funding and DCFS licensing requirements.

Maintain program-level fund accounting records in accordance with nonprofit accounting standards and donor-specific guidelines.
Conduct financial forecasting and operational analyses to support sustainable community service delivery and long-term program planning.
Develop, document, and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to strengthen community program delivery and administrative workflows.
Monitor organizational adherence to U.S. and Illinois labor laws, nonprofit regulations, and internal policy standards.

Serve as a liaison between program staff, leadership, funders, and external partners to support coordinated and compliant service delivery.
Manage programmatic and financial data systems to ensure accuracy, integrity, and audit readiness for government and private funders.
Analyze program and financial data to identify trends and opportunities for operational improvement and fiscal sustainability.

Qualifications
Education:
Bachelor’s degree or higher in Finance, Public Administration, Business Administration, Data Analytics, or a closely related field required.
Graduate-level education (MA, MBA or similar) preferred, particularly in finance, public administration, or analytics-related disciplines.

Specialized Knowledge & Skills:
Applied understanding of nonprofit financial management and public administration principles.
Experience using data analysis and reporting tools to support operational and fiscal decision-making.
Working knowledge of nonprofit accounting standards, grant compliance requirements and labor law compliance.

Experience:
Demonstrated experience supporting grant-funded community programs or nonprofit administrative systems.
Prior experience in nonprofit finance, public administration, or community-based organizations strongly preferred.
Ability to apply specialized education and experience within a community services and nonprofit operational context.

Salary Rage: $54,500.00 – $55,000.00/Annum
