The job of Facilities Manager / Maintenance Repair Specialist is an active hands-on position. Are you an experienced handyman who likes evaluate and fix issues related to building maintenance such as plumbing, electric and carpentry?
Have you done general maintenance in a multi-unit building, office building or simultaneously worked at multiple properties? Are you good at spotting problems and knowing what needs to be done? Do you have a decent aesthetic sense?
We are a not-for-profit organization with several vintage buildings that need regular maintenance. There are gardens, classrooms, childcare facilities, offices, kitchens, and some residences. Also CATV cameras and IT equipment that might need cables pulled or equipment mounted. Does this sound like a fun job?
Are you comfortable reading and understanding building codes? If you don’t know the answer to something, do you know where to find the answer and have the good sense to ask for help when you need it?
Full time salary $55K minimum. Compensation commensurate with education, work experience, skills. Paid sick/personal/vacation days, holidays. Health insurance subsidy. $200/month discretionary bonuses.

DETAILS:
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Respond immediately to emergency repairs and prioritize general repair/ maintenance requests
- Personally repair, maintain and troubleshoot as needed
- Maintain a weekly rotation schedule for system operations and facility maintenance
- Help manage “repair and maintenance budget”
- Order materials, utilize purchase orders and monitor delivery expectations
- Schedule and manage 3rd party companies or individuals as needed
- Provide weekly progress updates
- Be available during working hours via phone, text, chat, or in Person
- As Needed, on call for emergency action items, troubleshooting items, and facility emergencies after hours
- Perform and monitor preventative maintenance and safety inspections on all facility equipment, especially HVAC, Plumbing, Electrical.
- Inspect and maintain General Facility: Door hardware, wall patching, floor repair, cabinet/millwork repair, window repair, tile work as needed
- Monitor and maintain fire/sprinkler system and fire extinguishers including monthly checks and annual safety checks
- Identify and monitor potential safety conditions in the facility (Participate in safety inspections and suggest methods of preventing hazards to senior leadership)
- Maintain knowledge of all applicable building, health, and safety codes for facility operations
- Supervise and maintain general supplies inventory related to facilities management such as repair equipment, HVAC parts, plumbing parts, tools, and other necessary departmental supplies while adhering to budget
Position Requirements:
High School diploma required with minimum 7 years experience in building trades and/or property maintenance. Mention any certificates or licenses obtained. Bachelor’s degree in Facilities Management, Engineering, or a related field preferred.
- Experience with facility management: HVAC, plumbing, electrical and general maintenance
- Experience with project management and able to manage multiple priorities
- Experience with email, texts and file transfers as needed
- Independent and self-motivated
- Strong sense of urgency and pride in workmanship
- Organized and detail-oriented
- Willingness to pursues additional training and certification as required or needed
- Able to lift 50 lbs
- Must have a valid driver’s license and own a reliable vehicle
- Own required tools needed for this position a plus
